Help us save a printshop!
We’re trying to save a printshop full of incredible old printing equipment from going to the scrapyard and need your help!
Last week we met a 90 year old man, Mr. Meers. He’s been a printer his whole life. A year ago his wife was put in a nursing home a thousand miles away from him. Long story short, he can’t live apart from her any longer, so he sold their home (including the building which has housed his printshop for over 60 years) so he can go be with her.
He has an amazing collection of historic printing equipment, from 120 year old letterpresses to huge Linotypes, a Ludlow Typesetter and much more. His retirement is in his printing equipment and anything he can’t sell by next week to someone who will use and appreciate the equipment will go to the scrapyard. That’s what we’re trying to avoid. We have the space for the equipment and a plan for it (more about that later), but we need your help to raise the funds for the equipment.
Through Monday (July 26th), all of the profit from sales of our vintage prints will go toward saving the historic printing equipment from the scrapyard. We would love your help in spreading the word about this!
We’ll be posting here about the progress and the equipment as we go. We’re picking up several presses this weekend, including one known as a ‘warbaby’. More about that later…
